Who we are

Trust Layer (https://trustlayer.africa) provides escrow-backed payments and trust scores for social commerce sellers and their buyers in Nigeria. For privacy questions contact hello@trustlayer.africa.

Data we collect

  • Account details: name, phone number, password hash, store display name.
  • Identity verification: BVN/NIN when you opt into verified-seller status.
  • Transaction data: orders, escrow state, dispute evidence, payout bank details.
  • Technical data: device/browser, IP address, cookies for session and security.
  • Product analytics: how you use features (e.g. checkout steps) to improve the service.

How we use data

  • Operate escrow, payments, disputes, payouts, and trust scores.
  • Prevent fraud and abuse; enforce our terms.
  • Send transactional messages (OTP, order updates, push notifications you enable).
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

Payment processing

Card and bank payments are processed by Paystack. We receive payment status and references needed to match funds to escrow transactions. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

Sharing

We share data only when necessary:

  • Payment partners (e.g. Paystack) to collect and settle funds.
  • Identity verification providers when you complete KYC.
  • Logistics partners when you use integrated delivery features.
  • Law enforcement or regulators when legally required.

We do not sell your personal data.

Retention & security

We keep transaction and dispute records as long as needed for escrow, legal, and accounting purposes. Passwords are hashed; access to production systems is restricted; communications use HTTPS.

Your rights (NDPR)

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation you may request access, correction, or deletion of personal data where applicable. Contact us at the email above. You may lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Partners & embeds

If you integrate via our partner API, contact partners@trustlayer.africa for a data-processing addendum.
